Biology of the Sexual Response
• What is the Master's and Johnson 4-phase model of the sexual response? Including what females versus males experience during the following:
- Excitement phase (what is happening in women & men)
- Plateau phase (what is happening in women & men)
- Orgasm phase (what is happening in women & men)
- Resolution phase (what is happening in women & men)
• What is the G-spot? Who discovered it?
• What is the refractory period? Do women have one?
• What is the significance of the hormone oxytocin?
• What are some hypotheses for the existence of the female orgasm? See pg 92-93 (or Pg 19 of PDF) of Human Sexuality with respect to following researchers: (Stephen Jay Gould, Melvin Konner, Helen Fisher, Sarah Hrdy, Randy Thornhill & Steven W. Gangestad) This will be short answer questions.
• What are the influences of hormones on libido (hormones that increase versus decrease libido).
• Know the vocabulary associated with human sexuality (heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, pansexual, asexual)
• Know Kinsey's sexuality scale 1 - 6
• Know vocabulary (serial monogamy, polygamy, polyandry), and which are found in highest to lowest frequency in societies, and under what conditions these strategies are favored.
