                                            Research

Viewed broadly, my program of research is focused on understanding the processes that shape socioemotional behavior. My specific approaches to this topic have taken multiple forms, but may be regarded as exploring three main issues:  (1) outcomes resulting from early risk exposure, (2) early socioemotional learning, and (3)  non-conscious relationship schemas, emotion, and cognition.

My lab has a number of projects that are under investigation with the help of research assistants enrolled in PSY 270 Beginning Supervised Student Research and PSY 370 Advanced Student Research.

1.  The Simms Study: Does Evaluative Priming Influence Risky Behavior in a Simulated Social Situation?

2.  Couples' Self-Reported Attachment and Defensive Processing

3.  Origins of Social Aggression: Preschoolers' Preferences for Fear and  Angry Faces in Stressful and Neutral Situations
